Today's Attire...

Jacket: Topshop, Dress: H&M, Jeans: GAP, Belt: Primarni, Brooch: Boot fair, Bracelets: H&M, Camden Market and Istanbul...
Booo! As much as I didn't enjoy having my car buried under huge amounts of the white fluffy stuff, I was secretly hoping that my childish want for a white Christmas would be realised...bad luck!
Taking pictures with my camera at the moment is a NIGHTMARE as the screen has gone almost totally white bar a tiny strip at the top by which I must try and estimate where the thing is pointing when I need to take a picture...and then I must use my laptop to decide whether the pictures need retaking...not fun but necessary! Everyone loves a challenge.
I've been living in my Uggs for the past week so its a nice change to be able to wear normal shoes:D
Right I'm off to wrap more presents....Hope you all have a wicked Christmas and get awesome pressies!...

Istanbul...

Ok so I'm finally with the time to keep this blog going!
I went on a bit of a Turkish trip to Istanbul last week and it was amaaaaazing! Istanbul is such a pretty city... of course it has the odd crappy places like all cities but all the odd buildings were interspersed with the most lovely mosques...
The Grand Bazaar was nothing like I've ever seen before...it was full of hundreds and hundreds of stalls selling beautiful jewellery and scarves and spices amongst so much more. The gold shops were so bright it actually hurt to look in them! I definitely had to keep an eye on how much i was spending as it would be so so easy to get a bit carried away...
The spice market...
At the REALLY beautiful Blue mosque...
The outside of said mosque...
I don't really know where I took this haha...

A Topshop in Istanbul!!!...I got the piss severely taken out of me for how excited I got about seeing Topshop...
The whole week was so good...except one thing; I don't know if it just me who thinks this but I get really annoyed when you go to markets where lots of fakes get sold and they try and charge you ridiculous amounts just because they have stuck a wonky Prada or Miu Miu badge on the front of a bag...like I know the bags are fairly good but they aren't such good quality that they can ask upwards of £150 for them, I mean no one would buy them for that much sans fake brand so why do they assume you will pay £250 for a patent 'prada' bag that isn't actually designer?? It kind of bugged me...but as I say, it might just be me??

Can't wait to go again!!

Purple Shoes...

Wow...it has been a while!
I thought I would have a proper wardrobe organise the other week and of course that included my not-to-big but not-that-small collection of heels. It always get me wondering why I buy heels because I really never wear them...They just sit there looking pretty whilst I reach for the ' go with everything' flats. I personally do subscribe to the general consensus that heels really finish an outfit off (by that I mean a going out outfit mainly) but whenever I put a pair on, I feel really really different. What I mean by that is even though the actual appearance of the heels is nothing different, the way they make you walk and stand and just generally feel can really make you feel as if you are standing out in the crowd...that is why I reserve them purely for certain kinds of nights out.

Now, however, I have decided that a renewal of my relationship with my heels is in order...starting with the purple pair that I haven't touched for a good couple of years or so...

Mirror Mirror On The Wall And Such...

Ok ok I know I've been a terrible blogger of late. I do apologise...Unfortunately I do not have space in my mind for thinking about fashion, let alone writing about said thoughts! I'm pretty sure that once my critical theory essay is out of the way next week normality will resume:)
Bad news!! We had another of our epic house parties the other week and unfortunately my camera got picked up by some light- fingered individual so I am without any vehicle to take outfits pictures...or pictures of anything else for that matter...which is gutting because I keep seeing/ wearing things that I would love to post about. I will sort it soon:)
So anyway, I've noticed so many references to fairytale fashion at the moment which I personally love. I love the detail and the draping and the rich colours of this trend and the photography that comes with it is just lovely...Oh look at me gushing. I particularly like the Charles Anastase take on a modern day Red Riding Hood

On my hunt for some pretty fairytale pictures I found some lovely ones but these were my favourite:)

Just So You Know...

I blogged about Bjorg jewellery a couple of months or so ago and even though I would have killed to get my hands on the great items, I had no idea where to get them...
So seeing as I received an email recently letting me know that I could get hold of the collection I thought I would share the joy and tell you that The Heart Gallery now stocks it...
You can get more info here: http://heartgalleryhebdenbridge.blogspot.com

Full Marks For Inappropriateness...

I'm back for good now...no more galavanting about the world for me, just uni...which I am FINE with. I'm getting a bit behind with bits and pieces, including this blog!
So anyway, I had a lovely weekend with la family down in Dorset...the weather was pretty good and we stayed in the loveliest cottage ever with amazing views of the coast. I really couldn't have asked for a nicer place:)
I always feel rather messy when I go there in the way of clothes...we walk a lot so my day attire is usually jeans and a shirt with some vague attempt at accessorising with a bangle or demure earrings. Trundling about the countryside in fully styled garments would definitely raise a few bovine eyebrows, let alone the locals...
For evening however, I still get it wrong as I really need to make an effort for the night which would be fine here or at home, but in the depths of the Dorset countryside or in the coastal- town pubs of Swanage, one feels more than a little out of place. Even if one has considered herself to have dressed down...added to that is the fact that you look ridiculous trying to grapple with a half concreted/ half pebbled road in killer heels. It makes for some interesting times. Especially when a little intoxicated. Haha.
Anyway, this is what I wore on one day and one night...
Shirt: Sister's wardrobe Gilet: Mother's wardrobe Jeans: GAP Boots: Uggs Bag: Accessorize
Jacket: Newlook Dress: French Connection Shoes: Matalan (most depressing time of my life when I entered that shop) Necklace: Newlook
I got the most hooker- like shoes from Matalan the other day...hey they were cheap and fun. And they will only get beer spilled on them anyway...

The Land Of Sea And (Not So Much) Sun...

Well I can honestly apologise for my lack of posting anything remotely interesting for a while...things have been hectic to say the least...and to add to that I'm going down to lovely lovely Dorset today for a few days seeing as my Uncle has turned 40 this very morning. I'm sooo looking forward to it as I LOVE Dorset, its the nicest place and it makes you feel unbelievably stress free...
So yeah...I will take some pics of the fairly twee places I will be going and the plethora of boring jeans- orientated outfits I will be wearing and get back to usual blogging mode when I return from my oh-so-quaint travels:)...

See yous all later!...

Taurus...

I'm back!
And I really don't want to be...
But at least I can get back to my blogging duties...
I spent the best part of today (after a long post- flight nap) catching up on what new items my favourite online shops had landed and my favourite by far was this T shirt from Wildfox...I don't know whether it is because of my fondness for slouchy things on holiday spilling over into my home life or the fact that things with my zodiac sign on always feel unique to me ( and the millions of others who share my sign haha...) or the fact that I'm liking to tie things at the side for a bit of a grungy look at the moment ( which this top would be perfect for) but whatever the reason, I'm loving this...And it isn't tooo expensive at $67 and considering I managed to do my whole holiday on about £50 I think I deserve a reward...

ps. My camera started working just before my flight...and broke again when I got home. Someone loves me up there...

Camera Failure...

My camera that ( I quote), 'I will never have any problem with', has broken for the second time in three months and so there will be a distinct lack of outfit posts until I have rectified this problem...Not the best time as I'm going on holiday again so as you might imagine, I am pretty pissed.

Anyway...

I found these bags a few weeks ago and instantly loved them but forgot about them until today...They are the epitome of A/W 09 with all the leather and studding and overall bikerish feel.

If this daytime creation wasn't enough, there is a sexy little clutch and cross body bag for going out...!

Today's Attire...

Blouse: Primarni Bangles: mix of Primarni and Accessorize Jeans: GAP diy Shoes: Topshop
So I am back in Leeds now (thank god...) and what better way to christen my return than a hefty trip to the shops? I was really looking forward to having a proper look around H&M as there isn't a very good one near my home...In fact our one is purely for snotty children and ladies who carry said children...I mean maternity of course. I find that H&M goes through stages of being really really crappy to being great and this season they definitely fall into the latter. It was pure torture going through the rails of floaty blouses and meshy body con creations and not being able to buy anything as I needed to buy other things...Well I say needed...
I also finally got to play with the Christopher Kane for Topshop collection (very nice) and observe all the oddities that people in Leeds wear. It really is so different to home, people are so much more stylish here which is great if I feel like trying something new:)
Anyhoo, I did buy a few things that I will post when I wear them, although one of the items I bought is a black blazer which will permanently stuck to me for the next few months...

To Unitard Or Not To Unitard...

I would LOVE to see this on a normal person to see what it looked like. I'm all for fashion forwardness but this made me chuckle out loud...

Shameless Advertising...

I am on stage one of my wardrobe clearout...I have put a couple of items on ebay to start with to see how well they sell (or if they sell at all...)

Today's Attire...

Jumper: Topshop Skirt: Topshop Belt: Primarni Tights: H&M
I keep waking up in the freezing cold with grey clouds hovering about outside and dressing appropriately for such weather...only to find that as soon as I step out the front door, the sun comes out and I end up looking ridiculous in black and grey amongst the better informed and airily clad public...This morning I was again caught out! Seriously, someone please sort the weather out!
I love this jumper because I jingle when I walk and it makes me smile haha I know...weird. Unfortunately it was put into the sale not long after I bought it (damn...) and thought I should hide it away until people may have forgotten that it was a copiously stocked item and not unique at all...
Note to self: Stop shopping in Topshop, the amount of their clothes that you own is DISGUSTING. Find some better/ lesser known but still cool shops...

DI-Y Do I Even Try...

pic from bonadrag.com
I've always liked these kinds of bracelets (I had a massive thing about Indian jewellery when I was younger...) but they were never really that popular...
I saw this one on Bonadrag which is so cute and was very very tempted to buy it, but then I thought I would have a go at making my own using some chain that was left over from a previous DIY. I'm quite pleased with the way the shape turned out but the colour of the chain is all wrong so I might try changing it somehow...How does one change the colour of metal? Burn it? Sandpaper it? I dunno...I'll find out and let you know...

*EDIT* Dont worry Winnie...turns out it can't be discoloured with fire nor sandpaper...

Waisted...

I could not imagine that high waisted knickers could ever be that flattering...or easy to incorporate into everyday wear even...but this photo of Lara Stone looking amazing in a pair of these seemingly awkwardly- sized knickers has got me thinking that perhaps I have written them off far too soon.
I would say that unless you have a body a la Miss Stone, maybe darker, printed or lacey styles would be more flattering ? Well I am certain that blood- constrictingly tight, nude underwear would not work on me that is for definite...
I found this lovely set by Hopeless on Etsy which I would love to prance around the house in ( as well as all the other pieces in the shop)...or these Topshop ones if one's budget is smaller...

Cardigan: UO Vest: H&M Jeans: GAP (DIYed) Necklace: H&M Bangle: Who knows...
I was awoken at an ungodly hour this morning to help mother buy a horsebox...as such, I am in no fit state to organise a proper outfit.
The jeans went wrong but they are growing on me...

My Saviour...

It's like jesus in a tub.
I don't really want to turn this into a blog whereby I just promote a load of products but I feel that telling you guys about this must be done...

My hair (like most women's I'm assuming) goes through the usual onslaught of drying and straighting/ curling on a daily basis, as well as being permanently dyed and although it is in generally good condition, going on holiday twice with the sea water, chlorine and the heat really took its toll on my ends...

So naturally I toddled off to find something to rectify this and thus my love of this product was born:)

pic from Redken.com
This is so easy to use: you just shampoo, cover your hair in this, leave 5 minutes and wash off...and the results are amazing, I swear I have never used a hair mask as good as this and I've tried a few! After the first use my hair was in better condition than it was before I went away which is awesome:D
I know I'm gushing but I don't care I LOVE IT...

Electric Feel...

I like!
Daniel Vosovic's new collection is meant to be inspired by athleticism which to be fair I can see...but I do find it odd that I should be drawn to such a collection considering I am the least athletic person I have ever known...

Put On Your Armour...

I caved ;)
I went into town looking for a dress to go out in tonight but Tunbridge Wells gave me nothing...no surprises there! When you live in Leeds for half the year, one realises just how behind the times my home for the other half of the year is in the way of retail...
Anyhow, I decided to just go and buy the French Connection dress I was banging on about in the last post to wear ce soir and add some heels and armour to make it suitable...

Dress: French Connection Shoes: Topshop Tights: H&M

I always find that no matter what you put on, heels, a flash of sparkle and a smokey eye will transform it into a going out outfit...Which is especially useful to me as someone who doesn't *love* putting on a proper going out dress...

Moss-t You Do It Again?...

Once again the new Kate Moss for Topshop collection has failed to light any fashion fires in my particular mind. Yes there are some nice pieces, but nothing too different or particularly fashion forward. Most of it feels very luxe with its dark colours and lashings of chiffony pretentiousness which is all very well in itself, but due to this seemingly uninspiring trend, most of the prices have elevated to more than I would be prepared to pay for a technically non- designer piece. It is a shame as I would happily wear a couple of the items but seriously...£60 for the obligatory boring tea dress which finds its way into every collection of hers?? £400 for a sequin maxi dress that one could really wear, erm, nowhere?? I think not...
Despite my torrent of cynicism, here are my favourites...
This printed top might be the one thing I'd consider buying...we'll see...

Naughty-cal...

Oh how I love this French Connection dress! Its been nagging at me for a few weeks now that I really do need to have this in my wardrobe because it is so me it isn't even funny...I very very nearly caved just now in town but my forgetting my student card for that all important 10% off was the saviour of my hard- earned ( ahem...) pennies.
I have a half- hearted rule that I sometimes apply to my most wanted items which is that once I am sure that I want something, I wait three days and see if I want it as much after then...it is quite a good way of making sure I don't buy as many on the spot purchases as I might otherwise but this dress I have had my eye on for a good while and after trying it on twice I am so so sure that it will be mine:)
Pic from asos.com

I do feel slightly bad due to the fact that I've already bought two nautical themed tops...I live in the one below as it is just so comfy and easy to wear...the second one I think is going back to the place from whence it came as I really don't think it suits my shape at all. I think the neck is too high for my particular size of bust and it makes me look ridiculously wide... As such, I will then have some kind of justification for buying the one above ;) You see how my mind works...

First top: H&M Second top: Whistles
