Kapow Wow...

I saw these beasts of neck pieces on style bubble and thought they were pretty cool...totally impractical for this time of year but interesting none the less... and wandering through Covent Garden last week I happened across Kabiri which I had no idea was there, even though I've been in it before. I'm such a muppet. Anyway, I digress...In the window was one of aforementioned neck pieces and of course I had to go in and try it on and see how it was made. Turns out I loved it which I wasnt expecting! By this I don't mean that it didn't look impressive on the stand, because it really did, it was just that once it was around my neck it looked amazing (not because I have an amazingly good- looking neck at all). I wasn't exactly wearing attire to complement it but teamed with a t shirt dress it would really stand out. Another way in which it may perhaps stand out is the fact that any wearer would be walking around not being able to bend their head forward due to how cumbersome it is...

For those with a short neck there was other pieces which were equally impressive...and slightly cheaper!

A quick thing I wanted to include in this post was this necklace by Johanne Mills. Of all the interesting things to browse in Kabiri, this one caught my eye straight away. Again I couldn't not try it on:)

Sh*t In Your Pants Trousers...

...As my housemate so crudely named them.

I HATED these when they first came about...partly due to the fact that I went to France for the day not so long ago and every woman, child and even a couple of men were wearing the things. What's wrong with that? I hear you ask. Well what's wrong with that is that no woman, child or occasional man were wearing them in a nice jersey material, or silk, or any other such acceptable fabric, oh no.

They were all made out of that awful awful material that reared its ugly head in the form of combat trousers in the 90s and early 2000s. The ones that had strips of said material stuck to them, left to hang in some sort of tentacly mess. It was truly eye- hurting.

However, I have completely changed my mind and actually bought some a few weeks ago. Then I see these ones on Pixie Market and I am reminded of how wrong I was to totally dismiss them all that time ago.

I love the more structured shape of these ones which take them away from the loungy feel of others (including my own) and turns them into a smarter look. Also, I've never seen denim ones in this shade...I'm liking them:) They wouldn't suit me in the slightest but I like to dream...

These are the ones I bought from Topshop. So so comfy but they look much better with heels than flats so the comfyness is somewhat dispelled...

Spending Money One Doesn't Have...

Asos emails are a dangerous thing. They always have some great offer on and I find myself not being able to resist:(

At the moment they have a sale on tops and so I thought to myself that I would have a quick look to see if any Gestuz was on sale...and it was. So I bought this long line tee in the blue (not the hot pink, its not quite my thing) and I'm quite excited to see it on:D Although when i bought it this morning it was at one price, and this evening its £3 cheaper! How annoying!

I also bought this skirt as I have the coral one and I seem to be wearing it to death. I tried on the blue one when I bought the other one and was going to buy both...then I had a bit of a finance reality check and put the blue one back...but now its only £10 so I thought I really must have it!

*EDIT* Definitely one for those with no boobs or hips (lucky lucky people) but I'm so keeping it:D I'll post a pic later...

Look Who's Back...

Well look what's just landed in my line of vision....the H&M A/W 09' lookbook:)

I must admit I've been looking in H&M lately with a slight look of disdain on my face...It seems to me that for a long time now, they have just found any old material and made it into some hideous creation and put it instore for poor poor consumers to hopelessly buy. One piece that sticks in my mind particularly was something I came across on my last visit: A turquoise thin strap tunic in a cheap jersey with...wait for it...turquoise sequins all over the bust. It was so bad I stood there and wondered who thought that that throw-back from yr 9 school discos was a good creation?!?!

Wow deep breath....

Ok, onwards...I think they may have redeemed themselves with next seasons offerings. As always I love a bit of muted palette and they have not disappointed!

H&M tend to go for strong staple items as opposed to whole outfits and it seems that this is still the case, but that's no bad thing when they look this good:) Here are my favourites:

Arm Candy...

I really wanted to post about my festival jewellery...I know it is rather self indulgent but all week I kept looking at my hands and wondering how I got it all to match up so well when I literally grabbed a handful of stuff on the way out the door...Also, the combination of turquoise and gold looked really good in the sun and made me smile (inside, not outside as I would have looked a bit weird smiling at my hands all the time).

Show A Bit Of Leg...

Well hello... I am back from my four days of galavanting along with the great unwashed. I won't lie: it was awesome, but through the music and the Kopperberg I was in serious need of a shower!

That has been rectified you will be pleased to know...

I noticed a lot of crazy legwear this week, some slightly nicer than others, and it prompted me to look a bit further into tights designer Bebaroque. I've seen them on Asos so many times and always thought how differently cool they were but never thought to find out more about them.

The tights are designed by two graduates from Scotland and their quirky designs earned them 'Scottish Accessories Designer of the Year' at the Scottish Fashion Awards 2008. Well deserved I feel, as all of the tights are hand designed.

I must admit I am a fan of simple, pared down clothing, especially in these kinds of muted colours. My favourites are the two tone slouch top and the drapey silk/cotton in lots of colours concoction....I have a thing about contrasting textures:)

So sorry for the complete lack of posts this week I've been quite busy for me (she who spends most days not doing uni stuff but shopping instead) due to work experience/hangover recovery/packing/saying my goodbyes but I promise that after today I'll be back on the blogging train:)

Alannah Hill...

WOW.

That is seriously all I can say after looking at the Alannah Hill website...It really is amazing I could stare at it for days. That's even before I looked at the collection! It has every single fairytale/ magical thing you could ever think of, including a massive pink unicorn:) Just makes you want to find some woods and look for fairies...

Now to the clothes: they are just as amazing. I sound like I've been paid to say all this but I seriously have not seen anything I like so much in a long time.

The designs encapsulate all that is nostalgic mixed with a bit of old school glamour and sexiness. Even the colours that Alannah Hill has used are such that you get whizzed back to times past, those being midnight blue, stark black, rich reds and creams.

Most of the shops that sell this brand are in Australia and I'm having difficulty locating anywhere in England:(

Anyway even if you don't like the clothes (which to be frank you would be mad not to) definitely definitely visit her website as your mouth will literally drop open with how surreal it is.

Freedom In Chains...

Whoop! I have finally escaped from under that huge black cloud that was my final exam of second year. Now I am free as a bird to spend my summer lazing around in the (lets hope) sun and taking more than a few trips to Londre to see all the shops that I've discovered online but havent been able to see with my being stuck up north all term...

I've been sitting on this post for a while now and for some reason never got round to writing it...not sure why. Anyway, it is this:

Each of these pieces are one of a kind made by two designers from San Fransisco; Rachael and Mackenzie. They both look achingly cool with a whole 'I'm too cool to care' kind of attitude going on which I think really reflects in their designs. I can just imagine some willowy character in a maxi dress and copious amounts of bangle stacking wearing one of these head adornments. I like it...Maybe I will try and recreate some kind of headgear or one of the chain harnesses they make using the chains I bought for a very well- intentioned yet totally unaccomplished necklace.

On a different note I just wanted to post these pictures purely due to the fact that I really like the design and the different area of anatomy on which one can wear it:)
